Overview
The annual SSSR conference brings together reading researchers from around the world. The 32nd Annual SSSR Conference will be held at the Calgary TELUS Convention Center in Calgary, Canada from Wednesday, July 16, to Saturday, July 19, 2025. The event is hosted by the Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel, with the pre-conference workshops and opening reception scheduled for Wednesday, July 16.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Delegates are expected to attend the entire conference, except in cases of exceptional circumstances related to health or religious obligations. Please ensure this commitment when registering.

Pre-Conference Workshops
The conference is preceded by a pre-conference workshop day with two engaging sessions. The morning workshop, ‘Choose Your Own Adventure: Career Pathways in the Academy or Beyond,’ is for PhD students and early career researchers, focusing on academic and non-academic career pathways. A panel will discuss transitions to postdoctoral roles, faculty positions, and careers in industry, policy, and education, concluding with tips for navigating the SSSR conference. Lunch (12:30 PM – 1:30 PM) is provided for morning attendees, with time for networking.
The afternoon workshop, ‘Plan Your Own Adventure: Time Management, Productivity, and Work-Life Harmony,’ is open to all delegates. This session covers strategies and tools for improving productivity and work-life balance, with small-group discussions to develop actionable techniques and share insights.

Conference Dinner
The 32nd Annual Conference Dinner will be held on the stunning rooftop patio of The Calgary Marriott Downtown Hotel on the evening of Saturday, July 19. Enjoy a buffet-style dinner at (USD) $90 a ticket offering a variety of delicious and dietary options, followed by entertainment and line dancing with professional instruction. Don’t miss this opportunity to connect with fellow attendees in a lively and fun atmosphere! When registering for the conference dinner, you can purchase a ticket for yourself and one guest. Your guest does not need to be registered for the conference.
