Presentation Formats

Details and submission dates for different presentation formats are detailed below. Note the slight change in deadlines from our previous announcement to allow everyone a rest over the festive season.

Symposia

A symposium provides an opportunity to examine one topic in depth or from different perspectives. Each symposium consists of 5 spoken papers, or 4 spoken papers and 1 discussant. Presenters should represent different laboratories and an international mix of contributors is encouraged.

How will I present at a virtual conference? For symposia accepted for the 2021 virtual conference, we request presenters to upload a 15-minute pre-recorded talk with slides, in advance, that delegates can view on demand. There will a separate chat function to post questions. We aim to schedule a live 45-minute discussion slot for each symposium in which the symposium organiser or discussant will moderate questions.

Note. The live discussion will be scheduled for one of two different time zones (one allowing live Europe/U.S. participation – afternoon in Europe/morning in the U.S); the other for live Europe/Australia/Hong Kong – morning in Europe/afternoon and early evening elsewhere), so please consider this when putting together your symposium. You will be asked to state your preference when uploading your submission.

Spoken papers

The spoken paper sessions comprise 15-minute oral presentations of five papers, with a live scheduled discussion where possible. Spoken papers should be submitted individually, and the program committee will organize them into topically coherent sessions, depending on the number of symposia and available space. If space is not available, presenters may be given the opportunity to present in interactive paper (poster) sessions.

Interactive papers (posters)

An interactive paper (poster) involves a text and graphic display of research findings in the field of reading.

How will I present at a virtual conference? These will be posted in advance and there will a separate chat stream for each poster. We encourage presenters to discuss via the chat function and/or to set up independent meetings.
